Centennial Golf Club

The best of Southern Oregon golf is epitomized by Centennial Golf Club, opened in 2006 to rave reviews by players and golf publications alike.  Located in Medford, the course was designed by renowned architect (and native Oregonian) John Fought. Centennial Golf Club is a traditional links-style layout, with rolling hills offering scenic views and capturing vistas of the surrounding mountains in all directions.  Total course yardage ranges from 5,244 yards (Lavender tees) to 7,309 yards (Black tees).

“Mr. Fought did an outstanding job of fitting the design of the course into the land that was available for the project,” said Vince Domenzain, PGA general manager/director of golf.  Mr. Domenzain identified the 452-yard par-4 3rd as the facility’s signature hole.  Well-bunkered and playing uphill to a challenging green complex, the hole is considered by many to be one of the most difficult tests in the region.  In addition, the drivable 306 yard par-4 13th hole is viewed as an ideal risk/reward test for players daring enough to go for it off the tee.  Requiring a carry over a pond in front of the tee-box, golfers must elude well-positioned bunkers surrounding a narrow green to find the putting surface. “The 13th hole is our designer’s favorite hole on the course, primarily because of the risk/reward element,” said Mr. Domenzain.

Ideal weather often accompanies golf in the southern part of the state, as most of the precipitation that makes its way through the Pacific Northwest will miss the Medford area.  Coupled with few truly “windy” days, a day at Centennial Golf Club is definitely worth the trip.
